Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We are a second-grade classroom with children who learn in two languages: English and Spanish. The students are easily engaged and love coming to school. Our school is located in the nation's capital and is a dual immersion program. Students who attend this public charter school learn to think, read, write, speak, and listen in English and Spanish or English and French. Scholars are currently studying IB units for PBL and need to document their learning. Students are talented scholars, engaged learners and LOVE school!

My Project

Grammar and Reading Comprehension require thorough and thoughtful lesson planning for today's overloaded techie generation. Resources to understand figurative language will help scholars identify, comprehend, distinguish between and implement playful language in reading AND writing. To accomplish this 2nd graders need games, resources and materials like: Eureka Classroom Bulletin Board Set, Figurative Language Bulletin Board set, Figurative Language In a Jar, Jumbles: Prefixes, Suffixes, Compound Words, Grades 3-5, Flabbergaster and The Understanding Personification Student Study guide. There are many pieces to the reading puzzle. Scholars need to be able to decode, interpret, comprehend, discuss and elaborate for mastery in reading and writing.
