My Students

As I listen to tape and staplers ripping and clicking away in my room, I wonder how great it would be to replace such consumables with Velcro.

My students are beautifully diverse in both cultural and economic backgrounds.

Many are on a free or reduced lunch program and come from challenging home lives. However, they all possess the exciting potential for learning and growing, which makes my job so wonderful.

My Project

We would utilize Velcro dots in two ways. First, they would replace consumable tape and staples as I set up my classroom word walls, calendar items, and student display boards. Also, my students will be using interactive books and activity walls where they can manipulate words with Velcro backings.

This project is simply a great way to be more green and efficient in the classroom setting as well as provide my students with fun and engaging activities that involve their own manipulation of words and story elements with the use of Velcro-backed materials.
