My Students

My classroom is a reduced class size EIP model classroom.

I have 43 fifth graders who's eyes light up when you say "Today we will be doing a STEM lesson!" Of my 43 students - 2 have individualized education plans, 3 are English Language Learners, 17 are in the Early Intervention Program, and 5 are in the Gifted Program.

Our school is currently in knee deep in the STEM Certification process through our school district and through the state of Georgia. During a recent school wide STEM day, 100% of students were fully engaged in their task! It was truly an amazing experience for everyone involved!

My Project

Having these Osmos in our classroom will allow my students to use technology during their math rotations when using the 3 "Numbers" kit and the 3 "Tangrams" kit that are requested.

Every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science.

Having the coding kits in our classroom will provide these students with "hands on" experience in coding. There are currently 523,222 open computing jobs nationwide. Sparking interest in computer science at a young age will open up a world of possibilities for the students who have the opportunity to learn computer science beginning in the fifth grade. "Computer science drives innovation throughout the US economy, but it remains marginalized throughout K-12 education." - code.org
