Help me give my students reading skills puzzles to help increase vocabulary, phonics, and comprehension. Students will use these puzzles with partners and independently to enhance reading skills as well as engaging them in reading.
My students attend a Title One school with most of my students coming from low, socio-economic backgrounds, and many of them are below grade level in reading. Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative but a few do not view reading as fun they see it as hard so they avoid becoming a good reader. My second graders have a variety of differences and learning abilities from beginning readers to above average in their reading skills. Some of my students do not read outside of school or have support outside the classroom so they need resources to encourage reading and make it fun as well as make them feel successful.
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go and how students will use them on a daily basis. The phonics puzzles will be used in small group and with partners for those students not quite on grade level. The vocabulary puzzles will be used in reading workstations to help engage students in mastering more enriched vocabulary skills. The fiction and nonfiction comprehension cards will also be used in reading workstations and for enrichment to help students strengthen their comprehension skills.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful reading practice.
Also, helping to make reading more engaging for them.
My students will begin to see themselves as successful readers. We will use these materials to aid us in the process of becoming life-long readers. I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
