As a teacher, I am fortunate to have a classroom full of superstars. For the majority of my students, their personal situations are not always as bright as their smiles. Many of the students come from low-income households. This demographic of students lack experiences such as going out of the country or even riding a train. With that being said, the situations these students face do not define who they are or where they are going.
With the right tools and support, the sky is the limit for these superstars.
These students have such a genuine love for learning it roars through their voices as they chant different phonics songs in the morning. Having a classroom environment that is welcoming and refreshing gives these students hope!
“Desire is the key to motivation, but it is determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal, a commitment to excellence - that will enable you to attain the success you seek.” With the help of DonorsChoose.org reaching students and their needs is just that much easier. Thank you.
Here in my district scholars in kindergarten take an assessment called the MAP test (Measure of Academic Progress). In the past any assessment that was to be given on a computer was done so in the schools computer lab. My district is moving to towards having every school have one to one technology. (Every student would have a iPad or Chromebook to use at school.) So computer labs in some schools are a thing of the past.
Kindergarten students are expected to take a assessment on the computer but now that computer labs are gone scholars are forced to test on Chromebooks.
(laptops) This can become extremely difficult for scholars who have had no exposure to technology. So instead of the scholars focusing on the material on the assessment they are frustrated at operating the laptops. I would like to supply each scholar with a wireless mouse to ensure they are able to focus on what's important.
