Approximately 75% of the students at our school receive free or reduced-priced lunch. Many are low-income, poverty, homeless, and we have a high number of military families. There is an amazing group of hard-working young adults in my class. They strive every day to do their best and succeed. Their goals and dreams are to achieve a high school diploma and go to college.
These students take any obstacle in their path head-on and don't let it slow them down.
These students overcome so many different setbacks during their time in school.
My Project
My students are amazing and love to learn each day. Financial literacy is a topic that is important for all students to learn so that they are prepared for their future. We want to turn our classroom into a financial literacy carnival where the students will rotate through different stations to solve different types of financial management and literacy problems and situations. My students will earn raffle tickets and chances to play the spin the wheel game and drop the plank game when they advance to a new station. Each of the stations will grew in rigor. My students will be able to win various classroom rewards and prizes, since every carnival is not complete with prizes! It is amazing to get to see my students learning while having fun, because it helps the students no that school don't have to be a place to not enjoy. The ballot boxes will be used to collect raffle tickets and also for the secret problem box where the students will have to do a random card pick to find out their problem or situation they have to solve. With having these resources in my classroom, my students will benefit in a huge way, not only by learning about financial literacy, but also teamwork and collaboration. Thank you for considering to support my students through this project.
