My students need exposure to technology to be college and career ready. Having an iPad and Apple TV where they can produce presentations, create short films and collaborate using the latest technology will give them a much needed boost!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students at our middle school are all curious, excited, and eager learners. They come from a low, socio-economic background and live in a community that lacks the resources that can help them succeed academically. They face many challenge both in and out of the classroom. My eighth graders love to read, explore and create, as they are all diverse learners with different learning abilities. The majority of my students are resource students who have diverse needs so I try to incorporate different learning modalities. Most of my students are kinesthetic learners so I incorporate as many projects in my lessons as I can. However, due to a lack of resources, we are often limited in what we can do.
While the school tries to support and provide supplies to each classroom, anything extra or anything not related to the basic needs for the typical classroom is unavailable.
With the help of Donor's Choose, I can give my students opportunities to learn and grow. Funding this project would mean my students learn not only to love literature, but to become compassionate, caring and kind members of society.
My Project
I have attended multiple PDs where iPads were used in a classroom along with the Apple TV. With these items, my students will be able to create table top movies of novels, stories or poems we read in class and project it for the whole class to see. With the iPad, my students can also explore a bit of film making, something that is a very real and attainable skill given they live not that far from where blockbusters are made. I want my students to know that there are more opportunities for them out there than they realize if they have the proper tools and know how to use them.
