Putting On The Finishing Touches.

My students need a few more chairs to complete the flexible seating arrangement in my classroom. The chairs we received have made a huge impact and we are looking to finish off our classroom.

My Students

I teach students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade over 3 trimesters from a variety of different economic and social backgrounds. My classroom is full inclusion so I teach a variety of students from regular education and special education programs, as well as students from our ASD program.

We learn a broad digital literacy curriculum on topics ranging from anti-cyberbullying, digital citizenship, online collaboration, multimedia creation, etc.

So my students are creative, hardworking, and inspiring. We have a lot of fun.

My Project

We are looking to finish off our upgraded classroom community with a few more inflatable chairs. Since embracing the flexible seating model we have all noticed a huge difference in our classroom culture. I personally have seen a huge difference in both student productivity and kindness. Students show up on time due to our first come first serve seating and no saving seats agreement.

Students have been finishing assignments quicker and producing better work, I believe because of the upgrade in comfort and ability to find their own space in the room.

I am a big believer that the flexible seating model allows students to express themselves more creatively. I'm hoping that the addition of a few more inflatable chairs and sofa will further spread out the room and allow for the flow of creativity to continue.
