Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Over 86% of my student population are English Language Learners where Spanish is their native language. Our school is 100% free or reduced-price lunch. My classroom consists of 18 eager students who are driven to learn on a daily basis. We believe that school-to-home relationships are evident in order to achieve student success.
This year we are building a stronger reading foundation for bilingual students which encompasses a majority of our classroom population!
Let's give them the tools that they need.
My Project
My scholars are going to use the giant ink pads with rubber alphabet stamps as they stamp missing beginning, medial, and final sounds during their center work. The magnetic resources will help display "share & show" work as I use counters, pictures, and letters on the blue strips/sentence strips to show examples of learning. It is quite a challenge when trying to locate magnets in the midst of a lesson. In addition, the bookshelf will be used in conjunction with a project I just received funding for. I am going to put 4 different colored bins in the bookshelf inclusive of; portable cd players, headphones, and different leveled reading books. That way each students can learn on his or her level and it is organized and grouped accordingly. The wobble chair will help with a particular student from Puerto Rico who needs an active learning accommodation. The clipboards will give me an entire class set of the "same" colored boards. This way our students will feel vested as they take their learning on the go or writing around the room. What's special about these boards is that I can group them according to the needs of the class: table groups, gender, ability levels, and so much more!
