My students need sheet music and accompaniment CDs as well as texts to prepare themselves as musical theater performers and excel in their college auditions.

"As long as we live, there is never enough singing," Martin Luther said, and my students believe it. Through a huge outcry from our students and their families, our school is beginning a musical theater program. We need resources for our students so they will have a solid learning experience.
My school serves a high poverty population of excited, brilliant and artistic students.
We are a performing arts high school that values itself on providing top notch arts and academic educations for our young people. Our students deserve high quality educational resources and experiences so that they may compete as artists, academics and professionals after graduation. As their theater teacher, I make it my mission to provide them with excellent theater training by accessing resources for them to heighten and broaden their view of the world so that they in turn can positively impact the world. My students are very talented and are helping me to create the theater program at our school. They have begged for three years for a musical theater program. We planned together and dreamed. They worked to create our first musical review last spring. Now, this fall, I have a musical theater class that I will be teaching in conjunction with the vocal teacher at our school.
We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with our students to teach them to be excellent musical theater performers. So many of them have dreamed of singing musical theater pieces and have never been given the opportunity to be taught the genre, much less be given daily classes in musical theater dance, singing and acting. These anthologies of sheet music for singers as well as the textbooks that support learning in theater and the accompaniment CD's will provide our students with the resources they need to learn about musical theater and to learn about themselves. Additionally, in the spring of 2014 we will be performing a musical review for the school and neighborhood communities. With these resources, we can be fully prepared to make an excellent impression on our audiences and create even more support for our young people as they grow and learn. By working on and understanding the American Musical, my students will be able to work on and understand themselves.
"Putting it Together" is a special opportunity for you, the donor.
Through your generous donations to purchase the resources for my students' musical theater class this year, you are donating to their artistic futures. All of our children in our building are there because they are artists. This musical theater class is our school's direct response to the students and parents' wishes for our young people to learn these valuable artistic skills. Please help us make their dreams come true.
