Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are constantly creating in our classroom and trying to improve every time we take a pencil to paper. Once we have finished a project in our classroom, gone though rough drafts, self-edits/peer editing, we are ready to put our best work in our portfolios. Now, where do we put our finished work?
Our school is in a high poverty area, and I do not want my students to feel like they can't complete their work because they lack the materials.
The school offers them so many after school programs that allow them to get the information they need for our Science and Spanish language arts class, however they now need the materials to tie it all together. They need to personalize their own portfolios to keep all of their best work intact and organized.
My Project
We have a very active classroom, with as many hands-on labs and activities as possible. I try to provide them with real world experiences. This method helps them connect the curriculum with authentic experiences. They are always so proud of the work they produce and being able to properly showcase it using different fine tip markers to outline titles and key words, adding cut out pictures and illustrations will make them proud of their work be it individual or group. Finally, adding their work to their science and Spanish language arts portfolio will be the icing on the cake.
Having the fine tip markers and portfolios will help us put our best work forward.
Keeping all of their work in individual portfolios and in different colored bins will keep all of the work they produce organized. It will help us locate our best work quickly, and I can always see the progress they are making from the beginning of the year till the end in a quick manner. This will also help them self-reflect on their work and be proud of the finished product.
