This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am currently a kindergarten to 3rd grade, special education teacher for students on the autism spectrum. The students receive free or reduced-price lunches. My students work hard and they need a hands-on learning approach to help them be successful in their home, school, and community environment.
My Project
Who says teaching has to be boring? Teaching students fine motor skills can be a fun!! When working with children who have autism on any skill, you have to think about the not only the big picture but the small details also. Using Lego's to teach is a fun an rewarding way for my students. Not only are they learning fine motor skill but they are learning a life skill as well.
Lego's can be a fun and educational ways to develop many skills needed for life.
Legos are not only an enjoyable 'toy' enjoyed by people of all ages but it is a valuable item in teaching too. Lego's help with fine motor skill, creativity, following directions and critical thinking. Not only are they working on educational skills but students on the spectrum struggle to play or understand how to occupy their time. Using Lego's will help students learn and show interest in a life skill.
