Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach eleven students with severe disabilities in a high school serving a community having a disproportionate number of low-income residents unable to provide socioeconomic advantages for their families. Our school serves students in grades 9-12 and boasts rigorous academics, dedicated teachers, and a supportive learning environment.
Despite their physical and other disabilities, my students are eager to do their best.
They want to learn all they can in order to be successful one day. All receive free lunch in the school cafeteria.
My Project
Your help will make it possible for the special education youth with severe disabilities in my classroom to prepare for successful college experiences and beyond through acquisition of the skills, behaviors, and attitudes enabling them to learn and grow in physical and emotional health, and social interaction.
Putting green practice will help our students develop tracking skills and manipulative skills, which may serve to improve reading and handwriting.
Moreover, putting green practice is effective for developing hand-eye coordination, special awareness, and a variety of other physical and motor-development skills. Best of all, incorporating table tenis in daily classroom lessons provides another way to add physical activity to students 'daily routines.
Finally, students will be able to add some variety to their play as they can also use the game board as a beanbag toss. Students can play a beanbag tic-tac-toe or use the number values in each hole to determine their score.
