Books truly are treasures and we treasure our reading! Finding just the right book to send each child on a reading adventure means the world to me, and filling our class with books is my dream.
I have a class of energetic, inquisitive second graders who absolutely LOVE story time.
Even my most reluctant readers slowly edge their way closer to the book so they can point out words, draw attention to a particular character or share a connection with the story. We have spent a great deal of time discussing how to choose "Just Right Books" and that has been time well spent. I wish you could see my students sprawled around the room, absorbed in a story, sharing a book with a friend. Every new story I read quickly becomes a treasure in a child's chair pocket (where they keep their books) and everyone eagerly awaits their turn with the book.
We are a rural school and the families are mostly mid to low income, so many of my students have few books of their own. Our school library is small and often children have to wait a long time for certain titles to be available. Getting more books into their hands is a passion of mine!
My Project
Books truly do lay the world at your feet. With 24 more books, my children will be drawn into a world of magic, where anything is possible. Reluctant readers, gifted readers... there's a journey waiting for each one. With more books, children will have better chances of finding that certain book (author) that draws them in, nurturing the inner reader in every child.

I can't think of anything more important than reading (other than chocolate) and seeing the sparkle in a child's eye as they read, discuss and share books is truly what makes my job special. The donated books will be enjoyed by many classes to follow this one and I just can't thank you enough.
