My students are an amazingly diverse group of unique individuals that come together to form our classroom family. We are working every day towards creating an inclusive, caring community that recognizes and embraces culture and individual uniqueness as a vehicle for learning.
These picture books will allow us to work together, listen to ideas, share our thoughts, and find ways to connect and extend our knowledge as we learn and grow as a community together.
It is critical that our students are welcomed, appreciated, and valued as members of a learning community and these texts will support my students to thrive as they see themselves represented in the books that we share with one another. They will learn to make connections between their heads, hearts, and hands as we work to address a real culture of caring.
The books we are requesting will help us to establish a sense of trust, belonging, and purpose that will directly impact how we relate to one another in our classroom community and in the world.
