Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school services low and middle income families. We are considered a Title I school. I am starting up an Art program here. Most students have had little exposure to art or art media.
I love to see the "aha" moments the students have and the thrill of the students as they experience something for the first time with a successful outcome.
I am so excited to pioneer this program at our school but I need lots of supplies to get started.
My Project
In planning for the first week of school and students creating self portraits, we will need crayons, markers and paint to complete the drawings of what they want to be when they grow up and for outlining the shapes that create a body.
I am excited to see the students engaged, exploring and creating with their own hands whatever their imaginations can dream up.
Because the art program at my school is not established and is just getting started, the students have had little exposure to art medias. We are literally starting with zero. Students serviced will range in age from Kinder through 5th grade.
