My students need a work space in the classroom; the Flash Furniture kidney tables and a Flex Space table will allow the resource teachers to work with small groups of students on their IEP goals.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are three Resource Teachers at a Title-1 school in the heart of the Mission District in San Francisco, CA. Families at our school have low incomes; lunches are free for 100% of our students.
As Resource Teachers, we serve students with special needs.
Our students have been identified with various learning and physical disabilities. These students, most of whom are English Language Learners, receive extra support in academic areas such as math, reading and writing. They also receive additional support in non-academic areas, such as social-emotional learning and organizational skills. A total of 20% of our students are currently eligible to receive special education services.
Our students spend most of their day in general education classes; however, they need a space and time to work in small groups in order to meet their identified IEP goals. It is our mission to create a warm, welcoming space for students to master these academic and non-academic concepts, while fostering Independence and self-advocacy. We want to prepare them for the next step in their educational careers, whether it be middle school, high school, or beyond.
My Project
The Special Education team at our school is banding together to revamp our Resource Room. Our goal is create a warm, welcoming space for our student to receive Specialized Academic Instruction. Currently, the Special Education staff are spread out in various offices around the school; by localizing Special Education in the Resource Room, we can really create a cohesive, comfortable space where students from kindergarten to the 8th grade can work on their identified IEP goals.
We aim to identify all areas of our students' need: reading, writing, mathematics, social-emotional, and executive functioning skills.
Your donation will go toward buying the tools we need to deliver high quality small group instruction to our students. The two Flash Furniture Kidney activity tables and round table will serve as work spaces from which to deliver small group instruction. Your donation will be greatly appreciated!
