Mrs. Scott from Cedar Springs MI is requesting Books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Put Quality Literature Into the Hands of Eager Young Minds

Help me give my students quality, award-winning, diverse books that cover a range of interest, genre, and difficulty! Many of these books have been requested by name by my students on our "Classroom Library Wish List!"

My Students

My sixth graders are amazing young ladies and gentlemen. Being a first-year teacher, and having people tell me middle school can be a challenging age group, I was a bit nervous to meet my students. However, I can honestly say I am the luckiest teacher! My scholars fill the classroom with energy, insight, potential, and unbridled brilliance.

Eighty-four students come through my room every day, all of them eager to get their hands on a book and learn!

My students are bright, motivated, hilarious, and destined for great things. They inspire me every day!

My Project

My students are encouraged to read as much as they can, as often as they can. At such a critical time when many students report a decline in reading for pleasure, it is crucial that my students be surrounded by literature that gets them excited to read.

However, being a first-year teacher, my classroom library is sparse.

I am so lucky to be surrounded by a staff and administration that is dedicated to and passionate about literacy, but as it stands, my literature budget is the same as veteran teachers, which means that my students have access to far fewer books right within the classroom than do the students of veteran teachers.

This project will help build our classroom library. Many of the books have been requested by name by my students on our "Classroom Library Wishlist" so it would be so cool to see them get exactly what they wished for! What a way to not only make them feel special but to get them reading voraciously!
