Our library has nearly a class set of iPads. Some donated through donors choose and others purchased through a library grant. Using the iPads has become a challenge. Though we have a safe that allows one time syncing, with a PC it still means syncing each one separately.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds, but over 60% of our school population are eligible for free or reduced lunch.
They are highly motivated to learn, but as all children in today's day and age they need technology to engage them. And they need instruction in technology to prepare them for a 21st Century Job Market.
My Project
If we had a MAC laptop, all our iPads could be synced together with a free program called Apple Configurator. It would allow us to connect the iPads to our cart and with just a few clicks, our class set of iPads could update together and be uniform. It would no longer take hours to configure nearly 30 iPads. As we explore and discover new apps that can help our students, I won't be afraid to add them, because it means hours of work.
It's a shame to not use our class set of iPads to their full capacity.
Having a Mac computer to speed up configuration would allow us to add new apps as we find them. Our students can then fully benefit from purchases made for their education.
