Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are incredibly diverse. They have wonderful personalities who are all extremely bright and talented in their own ways. They all love to learn and love to have different resources to use for their learning.
A lot of my students are below grade level readers.
This means that they need to have resources that are going to engage them, but challenge them at the same time. Quite a few of my students are also English Language Learners, which means that it can also be more difficult to find resources that work for all of my students.
My Project
Scholastic Storyworks magazines are an incredible resource for my students. StoryWorks Magazines have both fiction and non-fiction articles and stories that my students can relate to, and are interested in.
These magazines connect different content areas while also focusing on different reading skills.
When students are able to make connections across content, they are more likely to grasp the concept.
In my classroom, students will reference and use their StoryWorks magazines all throughout the day. Students will use them during reading workshop and science/social studies time. I can't wait for my students to have these to use in their day to day routine!
