This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class consists of 25 amazing First Graders. More than 90% qualify for free lunch. Thirteen of my children are English Language Learners.

Full of energy, smiles, hugs, and excitement to learn- those are my First Graders!

For many of them writing and Reading in English are difficult. I am always looking for ways and resources to enhance learning and create more hands-on experiences. Our school sets high expectations for all students and we encourage a Positive Mindset! They are learning to believe in themselves and putting their best effort forward. These amazing first graders are the future and need all the tools, resources, and support they can get to be the most successful students they can be!

My Project

I am looking to purchase leveled books for our classroom library. Each day, the children read independently for about 30 minutes. Many of our books are old and need replacing. I often tape books back together, when possible. I often purchase some books for my class but I am looking for some help in getting some of the old books replaced.

I am looking to purchase Level A-D books to be able to put more books in the hands of my struggling readers and give them a larger variety of books to choose from.

If I am able to purchase these Leveled books, it will provide my lower level readers with a variety of books to pique their interest and engage them in reading during daily independent reading time. I am looking to provide these students with as many resources as possible to help them improve their interest in reading as well as their reading skills. I also would like some comfy cushions for them to sit on when reading. The cushions will give them another seating choice during reading time!

In our class we always say, "The more you read, the better you get!" I am hoping that these new books will help my struggling readers do just that!
