Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Hello! I am writing to you in the hopes that you will fund a very special wish for a remarkably talented class of third graders. I teach in an under-resourced school in a low-income area, and my colleagues and I do all that we can to make the minds and hearts of our students sparkle and gleam. Year after year, we teachers attempt to perfect what we do, in large part because we love to make the world expand and simultaneously come into tight focus for these kids. Teaching is such a rewarding endeavor, and I hope I get to do it forever.
Yet, there are some downsides. Key example: Approaching the end of the year in a public school means that you are likely gearing up for yet another September of budget cuts and consequent belt tightening. In the six years I have worked at my school, I have been able to meet nearly all of my students' individual and collective needs, as I have been gifted with consistently low class registers. This September, however, I have been told to expect my class roster to expand by nearly 10 students, which fills me with panic and dread. Not because I fear the challenge of reaching more students; rather, I'm pretty excited about the change. No, I'm filled with dread for a rather hum-drum (though easily rectifiable) reason: I don't have nearly enough table space.
My current tables are larger-than-necessary rectangular artifacts that are of such heft that they are essentially rooted to the floor. I currently fit 4 students at each, with tons of wasted space at the ends due to faulty table leg construction. Right now, I have about 15 students sitting at 4 such tables; next year, I will need to seat 24. You can see my dilemma.
The solution exists with the tables I have selected below. These tables are designed to fit 6 children at each, and as I have requested four (each in a different shade, to further organize my kids into identifiable groups), my seating fears would be immediately put at ease.
Also, with my class size set to expand, I am asking for a few new Seat Sacks to complete my table arrangements. Seat Sacks are the key to keeping kids organized at their desks (and they rid teachers of countless logistical nightmares).
Thank you so much for your time!
