This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Fun and caring are the words I think of when describing my fourth grade class. We have developed an environment where it is okay to have fun and learn, even when you are wrong.

My scholars have a respect for each other that makes being in class less stressful.

They have been together since kindergarten with exceptions of five students. Although, if you were to walk into our class tomorrow, you wouldn't even now who the "new kids" are.

They care for one another and inspire each other to meet personal goals and daily challenges.

My Project

There is nothing more exciting to me than seeing a student smile when noticing growth in their learning. In our class we track data of all sorts so that we can see progress being made. Our data folders have a running record for fluency checks, spelling tests, math drills, district test results, personal goals, and DIBElS results. Along with the data, students collect work to show off to parents at student lead conferences. Work includes excellent work along with not so great work. The goal in showing all work is to drive communication between student, parent, and myself on where students need more assistance in their learning. Students are accountable for their goals and own learning all year long. The Binders are a tool that will help put it all together in one neat place.
