My Students

My students are a diverse group of learners who experience learning in a variety of different ways. Some children come in fluent in reading, while others have little to no knowledge of letters and their sounds. Some children come in counting all the way to 100, while others do not recognize any numbers.

In our classroom I strive to celebrate each child's successes and look for growth in all of my students throughout the year.

Kindergarten students show academic growth that amazes me each and every year...even after 20 years of teaching!

My Project

We are starting a new science curriculum based on the NGSS Science standards. These standards encourage students to experience and explore science topics and come up with their own ideas and conclusions. This is a big change from how we have approached science topics in the past. There are three Kindergarten topics. We have chosen to teach the unit on forces and motion as our first experience with these units.

These books will help the kindergarten students experience a unit on forces and motion based on these standards.

The children will use this literature, as well as indoor and outdoor play experiences to understand the science components of pushes and pulls.
