Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach at open-admission Title I high school in New Orleans, teaching 11th and 12th graders who are preparing to go to work or college and are often the first generation in their family to do so. We are a high performing high school that provides amazing academic, emotional, and social experiences for our students. Our advanced placement (AP) program provides students opportunities to learn the rigors of a college classroom and earn some college credit before leaving high school.

My Project

Students will be able to use these books to prep for the AP test in May. It will help them succeed and we spend the last month of the class reviewing for the AP test, using this book as a base.

Students who pass the AP test earn college credit, which gives them a huge leg up in succeeding in college.

Reviewing is crucial and I do not want any student who doesn't have the money to be left out.

Students love being able to mark up their own books and it really helps them focus on key vocabulary and concepts.
