Do you know why things move the way they do? Do they twist, turn, push or pull? What is gravity and friction and how does it change how things move? These are questions my students ask about the world?
My students are typical 5 and 6 year olds in a full day kindergarten class.
They attend a magnet school in a large urban district. The school is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school. At our school, we encourage inquiry and questioning of how things work and why.
My Project
As part of our IB curriculum we have a unit that encourages students to explore how people use movement in everyday life. The materials requested will allow students to explore different forms of movement. They will see how sand moves when they push or pull it, how water moves and how water moves other things. An exploration of magnets and how magnets push or pull items would be possible.
If you choose to donate to this project you will be allowing students to learn through inquiry and discovery that learning is fun!
These items would benefit both kindergarten classes as we work together. Students would learn concepts that would help them for the rest of their lives.
