My students need some headphones in order to use their listening station and class iPads.

The students in my Purple Caterpillar pre-k class are amazing! They are some of the brightest, loving, charismatic and inquisitive young minds I've ever had the pleasure to meet and most certainly to teach. These students deserve it all and I will try my hardest to give it to them.
I work at a title I school and 80% of our students receive free lunch and qualify for head start.
I also have many students that come from non-traditional households as well as homes where English is not spoken.
My students are between the ages of 3 and 4 and one of our main focuses and goals for this age group is to cultivate a love of reading! To do this, we complete several reading groups per day and send home reading projects for our parents to complete with them at home. In utilizing our daily reading circles, we want to excite them and generate an interest in hearing stories that will grow into a desire to read them for themselves.
We are avid readers in the Purple Caterpillar class! I read ALL the time! We also use iPad's to allow students to engage in various learning apps during free time. These apps help with developing math and reading skills. Having the headphones will allow them to use the listening center and iPad's uninterrupted and without causing a distraction to other students.
The first half of our school year we focused on developing a love of reading because it helps with the students oral language development and cognitive development.
The second half of the school year we encourage students to explore their own interests with reading by allowing them to choose audio books on their own during centers time. This allows them to be read to while I'm circulating the room and working with other students. It also allows them to be proactive readers and choose things they have a specific interest in.
