Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are absolutely incredible. I don't think of them as students, but my extended family. When my friends and family ask about them, I call them "my kids." Many of them haven't had an easy go at things; however, they have school as a safe haven. Most are receiving free or reduced-price lunch, and many are at an advantage, learning two languages. Some people may think this isn't advantageous and slows their education, but, in this society, it's an asset. I'm so proud of my kids every day. They deserve everything that is donated.
My Project
Pencils, paper and Purell. These are some of the most important things in my classroom. Kleenex goes in this boat, too, but it wasn't alliterative with the others.
All kidding aside, these are the basics of every day in my classroom.
It's hard to wait for the approval of the school district, then the school site, to get these supplies, and I'm sure that all teachers end up buying them at some point. What better way to start next year stress-free?
