My students come from a small rural community. They have great character and work hard to succeed. Most either live on a farm or are somehow related to farming. The strong work ethic they observe in their parents enables them to fully commit to whatever their passions are. These children are so excited about learning, and using puppets in the classroom would be an amazing tool to help them stay fully engaged. They could be used by the teacher and by the students in music centers.
My Project
The Kodaly Method is an amazing, fun, and engaging method for teaching children deeper concepts in music education. Puppets can be used to introduce children to all of the new ideas in such a fun and entertaining way that they won't realize that they're actually learning and working hard applying those skills. Puppets lead them to explore their voices and help them gain confidence in their musical abilities. In music centers, puppets may be used to allow partners to reinforce learned concepts and together create their own songs implementing objectives learned in the classroom. The kids feel like they're playing, but they are really mastering musical concepts and practicing improvisation.
