I am a displaced teacher from St. Bernard Parish. I am very fortunate to have found a job in Livingston parish surrounded by supportive coworkers. My goal now is to create a fun, exciting learning environment for my students. This proposal is for a puppet theater and accompanying puppets for the students to perform shows for during both instructional time and play time. The puppet theater would be a wonderful way to evaluate student's comprehension of stories read in class. The student's could reenact the story line. In addition to it's usefulness in the language arts curriculum, the puppet theater would be useful in helping students work through social issues. Students are sometimes afraid to speak to other people. If you put a puppet on your hand, suddenly they open up. Lastly, the puppet theater would provide a creative outlet during play center time.
