Puppets! My students have lots of wonderful stories to tell. By providing them with a creative means to share their stories, the writing process becomes more fun. They can create a story line for the puppets and perform their creation.
My school is a K-5 elementary school in Colorado.
I have a diverse group of students, including some Native Americans. My class is made of third graders who are wonderful students. They are emerging, aspiring writers. We love to write stories for others in our building and recently wrote stories to read to the kindergarten students. The stories they write are wonderful, and full of imagination.
My Project
I am requesting puppets and a puppet tree to store them. My students are aspiring authors and having puppets will inspire their stories for the better. I plan on using the puppets in my read-alouds. I also plan on having my students write stories for their puppets. They will make a puppet theater and perform their stories to other classes in the building. My students will learn how to write a theater story as well as how to perform from a script. We will also use these puppets for reader's theater in my classroom.
Knowing that others care about their education helps inspire my students and motivate their desire to learn.
This project will motivate their imaginations. My students will know that someone out there cares about them and their education.
