My students are incredibly creative and excellent at expressing themselves through the medium of drama. They come to drama class ready to be brave, try out their ideas, and let the creativity flow. Drama allows them a space to try new things, gain confidence, and feel accepted no matter what.
The creative work that my students bring to the table is inspiring and just goes to show how crucial the arts, and in this case drama, are in a well rounded education.
I am continually blown away by the work that my students do in the drama classroom!
My Project
An avenue of drama that my students have been wanting to explore is puppetry! We have been using the back of their chairs and/or a tipped over table as a puppet stage, and that just isn't the ideal way to practice puppetry.
Puppetry is a great way for shy and anxious students to feel comfortable and still receive recognition without feeling nervous- after all, it is the puppet talking not them right?
Puppetry provides a low-risk opportunity for building students' confidence both onstage and in their everyday lives as they encounter situations that require bravery.
This project will provide my students with a sturdy and practical puppet stage and high quality puppets that they can rehearse with!
