My students need a class set of books about pumpkins. As a team, we are excited to use this informational text to get our students engaged and to understand the way things grow, particularly pumpkins!

My Students
About 75% of my amazing 4th graders receive free or reduced price lunch and come from low-income households. From day one, we have embraced kindness, leadership and love in our room. We know that there isn’t much we can control, but that we can control how we love ourselves and each other.
With multiple special needs students in our classrooms, we are learning a little more every day about how everyone is different and that we are all special, no matter what!
My students have quickly become a family and love each other so much, and it makes our hearts melt each and every day!
My Project
As a team of 78 students and three teachers, we are working to implement balanced literacy into our classroom each day. In doing so, it is our goal to get a variety of authentic texts into the hands of our students throughout the school year. However, this can become difficult as books can be costly.
With your help, we hope to buy three class sets of The Pumpkin Book by Gail Gibbons.
This is an informational text about pumpkins and how they grow. As a team, we have planned a unit that is dedicated to pumpkins and all things fall. During this unit we will use pumpkins to learn about informational texts, math, science, and even some art! We plan to begin this unit in mid-October, but we can't do that without your help!
