My Students

I have approximately 350 students in art: 250 fifth graders and 100 sixth graders. Our school is a low income, very diverse campus. My students enjoy coming to my art class because it gives them a chance to expand their creativity with projects using a variety of mediums. The crazier the things we use are, the better! Each year, my students look forward to creating new projects that I have discovered over the summer months. I can sense their excitement when they enter the art room.

My Project

I want to give my students the experience of printmaking. I know they've had some exposure to the process in elementary school but not in depth as I would like it to be. My art room has no tools or inks for printmaking.

Printmaking is an artistic process that could possibly lead to a career choice for some of my students.

I want them to learn the processes so that when they leave my classroom, they have had exposure to art skills that they could use later in life, possibly as a professional printmaker. I chose several of the basic kits so that all students have options to craft with, along with the necessary tools in order to be successful in this technique.
