Pumped for Guided Reading Professional Development!
I need to attend a professional development workshop that would greatly assist me in running and implementing effective guided reading groups. I have done extensive research, and Jen Jones is the best out there for guided reading training.
The classroom I walk into every day is full of smiling kindergarten faces. Our classroom is comprised of boys and girls from diverse backgrounds and languages, who all come to school eager to learn. We are from a medium-sized district in Southern California, and we one of ten elementary schools.
I have 24 students who give me giant hugs, and tell me that they love me, and that is my motivation to apply for this Professional Development project.
I have students with special and unique needs, students who are English Language Learners, and students who are just experiencing school for the first time in their lives. It is a joy to step into the room every day and work with them.
I have been following the work of Jen Jones for quite a while now, and I have great respect and admiration for her work. I have been utilizing many of the tools and strategies she shares in her weekly guided reading Facebook live webcasts, but I am ready to have a full day with Jen Jones. This project will cover the cost of a workshop with Jen Jones.
I am looking for the best way to incorporate 21st century reading instruction and best practices.
I am also eager to learn more about home reading and how to successfully implement this system at my school. I know I will get this from this workshop with Jen Jones!
