Students in my kindergarten classroom come to school excited about learning. Most of my students come from low-income families, and all the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. This background can mean that students’ families cannot afford to purchase needed school supplies. Unfortunately, some of the students are experiencing homelessness, which can mean that they lack items to meet their most basic needs.
My students deserve to receive the best education possible so that they are able to succeed in school and in life.
These boys and girls have such awesome attitudes, and they try their best every day!
My Project
If you come into my classroom between 10:15 and 11:00 each day, you will see my students at various stations around the classroom. The students are working in small groups and they are doing a variety of activities. They are focused and having a great time practicing what they have been learning in the classroom. This time of the day is Center Time. Center Time is extremely important because it gives students a chance to work together to practice important skills.
It is important for my students to have access to hands on activities that help them stay focused.
I am requesting a set of six phonemic awareness instant centers. Each center includes all of the materials for up to four students to engage in a fun phonics activity. My students, especially the ones who have autism and ADHD, will benefit greatly from having these quality centers. These centers will help them build the foundations necessary to become great readers.
I am also requesting a bin that will be used to store the centers. Thank you for taking the time to read my project idea. My students and I greatly appreciate it!
