Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from high poverty, low socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of them live in low income apartments. 100% of them qualify for government assistance and the federal free lunch program. Many of them are ELL learners and speak English as a second language. However, these barriers do not discourage their love for learning!
These students come to school every day excited and ready to improve their reading and math skills.
Their parents are very concerned about their children's education to provide them a better life. Although they are disadvantaged in so many ways, you would never know it by their positive attitudes and eagerness to learn.
My Project
State funding has been slashed in our state. Teachers are finding it harder than ever to get supplies to take students into twenty first century learning. How can you proceed into the new age without technology?
My students need headphones to use during computer time in my classroom.
Many of them are listening to stories being read to them and need the comfort of the headphones to keep from being distracted while class is being held. These headphones will be used during center rotation during the day and taken with us to computer lab for usage as well there also. Thank you for your support of my classroom and of public education.
