I am the head boys' basketball and head track coach in a culturally diverse, rural 8-12 grade high school. We try to do the best with what we have but our funding is limited and there is no money allotted for any extras.
We need specific equipment aimed at increasing the abilities of our student-athletes that can help build confidence and improve the skills needed to help them be successful and excel in their chosen sports.
The talent and ability are there, we just need to be able to strengthen their skills.
My Project
Our athletic budget for our high school boys basketball team does not include training equipment and we have to search for other funding opportunities to provide the resources we need. As a coaching staff, we try to present opportunities to our student-athletes to help them succeed in basketball and this equipment would help ensure they can make major gains in offseason and be more prepared when the new season hits.
We need two electric air pumps and extra needles so we can ensure our basketballs are always fully inflated for maximum performance during drills and other activities.
Our boys and girls teams share two gyms in separate locations across town so we need to have an air pump in each location. In addition, our newly formed soccer teams need to have access to an air pump. Our teams work hard during the season and in offseason from daily workouts to team camps and this equipment would help them reach their goals when our high school season begins again next fall.
