Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Working with these kids has been an amazing experience. They are hard working and are able to work to the best of their abilities in unfavorable circumstances. There is no vertical alignment so it is very common to get multiple students into our High school Band program that have never played an instrument and of what's left, the majority have only played one single year. Despite or in spite of depending on the student they adapt and overcome. They are aware of the challenges they face and every day they show up with a smile on their face and ready to get to the gettin. It is because of their unflinching since of duty I am able to work. We have the best time learning music!
My Project
One day, hopefully in the not too distant future students will be back home in the band room. We are trying to get the room as close to perfect as we can. We have had poor luck in funding for stools. I can only assure you that these will help students sit straight up and allow the best sound and air control possible. Currently they are sitting in normal chairs. They are good but these give the best opportunity for the Jazz trombone section. They will change how these young musicians see breath control.
