My students need flexible seating options for optimal learning in our first grade classroom.

My Students

With a school that serves a diverse and underprivileged community, my students reflect a diverse and energetic passion for learning. Our community provides 100% free lunch and even provides breakfast in the classroom.

With all the tremendous adversity they face on a daily basis, my class is also filled to the brim with a lot of love and laughter and a ridiculous amount of adventure!

First graders are full of abundant energy, enthusiasm, wonderings, and are always up to try anything new.

My Project

My first graders are movers and groovers and kids on the move. Right now our classroom consists of a carpet for group meeting and red plastic chairs for independent work. At times they struggle with focus and attention to their work and have to take frequent breaks.

These 4 beautiful floors chairs will help create a flexible seating option for those who require a space other than a table.

I envision group work, with clipboards and first graders who enjoy the spaces in which they learn.

As more and more classes turn to flexible seating to help with focus, I am sure my students will reap the benefits of movement and choice.
