Pull Up a Chair!
My students need six chairs for small group seating during guided reading and math instruction.
Remember coming home from school eager to tell your parents about how your day went? My job as an educator is to make sure my students are excited about their learning!
I work at a school where 99% of my kids are army dependents.
My students are some of the sweetest kids around who work hard and strive to do their best every day!
Parents are found facing deployments, field time, or working 14 hour shifts just to come home and tuck their kids into bed. Many of my kids have been in 3 different schools already and they are only in fifth grade!
Guided reading and math groups have proved to be very useful in assisting all students to learn at their own pace and level. Teaching in small groups allows me to individualize instruction and better evaluate my students progress. Research shows that differentiating instruction has positive results over a broad range of students.
With small groups, students learn more effectively than in large groups, gives me the opportunity to use more hands-on learning, and provides students with immediate feedback.
These six chairs will allow me to meet with small groups at my guided instruction table. Right now, students are using broken, bent, and cracked chairs from their own desk area. By having a set of chairs just for our small group table, students won't have to bring over their own chairs and have a higher motivation to stay focused and learn.
