Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are wonderful. They come from varied socio-economic backgrounds, but they all get along well. They like to learn and explore, and they enjoy all sorts of activities, from reading to science.
Many of my kids have pretty tough lives, but they come to school every day and try.
They are interested in everything and enthusiastic about learning. For many, school is an escape from a difficult home life. For others, school is just school, a place you go to learn and be with your friends. Whichever way they feel, they always try to be helpful and kind.
My Project
These chairs will be used when the kids do centers, so they have more freedom in where they work. They will also be used when I teach in small groups, so they can comfortably work equations, etc...while sitting with me on the floor.
Playing games enriches kids and develops important life skills in a fun and engaging way.
That's why I've ordered Bananagrams, Don't Say It, and playing cards, so the kids will be motivated to work on vocabulary and definitions, spelling, and math skills while "playing games."
I envision the kids using the chairs to work together, play games, or to have their materials as we work in groups on math and writing skills at the classroom rug. The games will be available in centers for learning or as a reward for work done.
