Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Dr. Seuss, “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” is very fitting to my classroom. Promoting students’ interests and abilities is important. This project helps further my efforts to advance my already inspired digital learners and hook those yet to be comfortable with our digital world.
My students are creative students full of the love of exploring and learning.
They are an energetic, motivated group who come from diverse home environments including military families. Our classes love working in groups and sharing what we create. My students are digital learners, born into a digital world. They have diverse learning needs with diverse learning abilities. My students are creative and desire creation time. My students love seeing their creations whether traditional or digital published so they can share with their world.
My Project
The laptop will hook up to our current 3D printer and allow us to install software that we can use to print on the 3D printer. The hard drive will give us the space we are in need of to store all the technology projects. The lightning to USB camera adapter with allow us to connect our current Makey Makeys (an inventor's digital tool for laptop) to our current iPad. Gorilla tape is extremely durable and easy for students to use. It allows them to publish their work in the halls, classroom and also is a tough adhesive to connect parts if students have multiple pieces. Adding the laptop, hard drive, Gorilla tape and adapter is a crucial piece to our evolving Makerspace so that students can continue to grow and create and publish their work. Share work with their world is an important component of developing 21st Century Learners.
This project will make a difference for my students by better preparing them for the digital world we live in.
Having the laptop with allow students the ability to run the software for the current Makerspace 3D printer. For students to see their work go from digital to real life will open up a door to more learning where students can test their creations, modify and republish. This project will help to create lifelong learners, creators, and innovators who are excited about their creations.
