The students in our school are from a rural area with hard working parents but this is an area where industry has died. Most of the parents make sure these children have the necessities but do not have a lot of extra to donate. These parents are the type that would donate if asked, but I was once in their shoes, so I hate to ask them. I teach only girls and these are some of the most wonderful, hard working, knowledge seeking group of girls that I have taught in a while.

Our school is great but like all other schools, there is only so much they can give to help with specific projects in the classroom.
These girls are so cooperative and willing to try. I want them to have the necessities to complete all activities with ease and to be able to have the optimal learning experience they deserve.
My Project
The computers, along with the copier and binding materials, will be used to publish children's books for the students in our special needs class. Our school shares the computer labs and the lab carts. It is not always available for use. I want my students to have access for about two consecutive weeks, so tablets in the class are necessary to accomplish this project.
Writing and sharing our knowledge with others is an accomplishment worth achieving.
These children are going to create children's books on their favorite science topic. They will publish these books with a new printer, card stock and bindings and share them with our special needs students.
