My Students

Each day, 50 young people in my English language arts classroom delve into literature, poetry, and non-fiction texts. They write their own fiction, create poetry, and respond to essay questions. They work so hard. Yet, we are still faced with a challenge. Every day, we come to school ready to learn, but we lack some of the necessary technology a classroom needs in this day and age.

We are an urban school, in a very large school system that is facing millions in budget deficits.

Seventy-four percent of our students are considered low income. Of the 50 students that I teach, 25 are fourth graders and 25 are fifth graders. Whatever learning environment improvements we make this year will affect these 50 students and many more to come!

My Project

My students write the most amazing stories and essays but those pieces of writing live on the internet. We don't have a way to share them effectively with our school community.

A printer will allow us to bring our stories to life!

With a printer, we will be able to publish our writing and create amazing displays for our parents, friends, and community members to read. A printer will afford us the opportunity to print our writing, adding artwork to draw readers in. The displays we can create using a printer will bring a sense of pride to the halls of our school.
