My students need new script books to remain competitive at competitions and so they are not competing with the same pieces as other schools. The computer stands would be very helpful for my debate teams.
Speech and Debate kids are a special breed of kids! They are the "smart" kids, the "creative" kids and the kids that will one day become leaders of our Country. These are kids that spend hours outside of school researching debate topics, writing and memorizing speeches and practicing the same scripts over and over to get the movements just right.
Over the past two years, I have rebuilt the Speech and Debate program from barely competing to National Qualifiers.
My students range from Freshmen to Seniors. They have learned how to be a family and how to support each other through the losses to get to the wins. Over the past two years, we have had over 50 qualifications to the Regional tournament, 8 qualifications to the Oklahoma State Speech and Debate Tournament and 7 qualifications to the National Speech and Debater Tournament. These kids work extremely hard and have made this program stand out in our school that is heavily populated in sports.
My Project
In order to stay competitive, Speech and Debate teams have to have new materials to work from. It is very frustrating when you go to a tournament and someone else is doing the same piece as you! If we had new script books, we could stay ahead of the pack!

I have made a list on Amazon.com that consists of script books for my actors, binders and cover sheets for my prose and poetry students, and portable laptop stands for my debaters. These are important, because more often or not, debate students are put in rooms other than classrooms to compete and the room is not equipped with a table for their laptops to sit on.
Every dollar we raise during the school year goes to pay our entry fees for tournaments, so it doesn't leave money for "extra" things such as binders and script books. Your donations would help our team be better and stand out in a highly competitive region.
