Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The STEM Club students are always eager to learn and participate in the new experiments and activities the science teacher and I assign for the day. I would like my students to explore with a variety of manipulatives. In addition, I would like my students to have the opportunity to create and design their own projects.
We are a Kindergarten to 5th Grade Public Elementary School in the Northern Bronx.
We are a Title One School with an enrollment of over 1,300 students. And more than 90% of our students qualify for free or reduce lunch.
We have a diverse range of cultural backgrounds. The majority of our students are from a Latin background. A large percentage of our students are English Language Learners.
My Project
My students need the 3-D Magnet Builders, Design & Build Engineering Centers and Magna Tiles to explore and manipulate objects as future engineers and architects. The STEM Club consists of 4th grade students who have a desired and curiosity to try new ideas and projects. They eagerly participate in all new experiments. They also collaboratively problem solve and have trial and error discussions during the assigned task. The resources will be used to provide the students with the opportunity to experience what it is like to be an Engineer and Architect by creating and designing their own structures and skyscrapers.

This is what I want for my students. I want them to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes. I want them to realize that they can make a difference in this world, if they only try, explore and take risks.
This will change my students' lives because they will be inspired by the projects and resources used during class. They will grow up to become future engineers, architects, scientist or explorers!
