Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love being a teacher. I love my students. They are resilient, resourceful, and quite often bursting with personality. But what really makes my kiddos special is their big hearts. That life is no bed of roses is a lesson many of them have already learned so early in life. My classroom is a resource.
The materials for a classroom center focused on student wellness will go far to help my students stay healthy, focused, and ready to learn.
Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs states that human's basic needs, like the need for food and safety, must be met before they can begin focusing on higher-level needs like learning. Growing youth have a wolf in their bellies! With colder winter weather and flu season upon us, it is crucially important that my students are provided with a storage unit/ pantry to ensure they get a sanitized classroom to prevent illness. An ounce of prevention is, we all know, worth a pound of cure!
