My students need to know they are supported and have just as many resources as students in higher funded schools; they want to prove their success based on their ability not zip code or race. WE need highlighters, bulletin board paper and more.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
HP students are the future of Kansas City! Full of grit and tenacity, these students strive every day to add more tools to their toolbox that will be used to better their community, family and themselves. My students are smart, and they very aware of the lack of funding for public charter schools. They see the disparities, and they see their teachers work to provide for their needs. Nothing would be more uplifting than for the community to help them!
My Project
Many of my students are unable to afford or obtain basic supplies. They also need a classroom environment in which they feel supported. The school does not reimburse teachers, so any help will help ease my monetary stress which will create a classroom not focusing on lack of supplies but focused on bettering students’ education. These supplies will help my students do their best work. They won’t have to worry about not having the means. As a teacher, I can focus on teaching content and not spend the majority of my time worried about materials and monetary weaknesses and the many obstacles of school funding.
