Our school houses approximately three hundred students in grades six through eight. My kids come from suburban neighborhoods, rural farms and public housing. My kids come from a small geographic region, but they have a vast array of life experiences.
My students are full of life, curious about the world and are amazingly kind.
Our school's motto is that "we're a family," and my kids live out those words everyday. They care for their peers and look out for one another. My kids are a joy to be around. I love being in the classroom with them and looking for new ways to explore their interests and their creativity.
My Project
My students are eager to learn. They put in their best effort everyday, but sometimes they are lacking basic school supplies.
My students have enough stress in their lives and they shouldn't have to worry about having necessary school supplies.
There is often a gap between students who are able to bring crayons, notebooks and erasers to school and those who cannot, due to financial circumstances at home. I want to ensure that all of my students have their basic school supply needs met so that they can simply put their focus on learning rather than worry about not having the right materials. All of these materials will be placed in our student supply station where they can simply grab what they need when they need it. This allows our classroom to run efficiently because they don't need me to stop teaching to grab things for them. It allows them access to everything they need with no stress about not being able to bring the supplies from home.
